Ann Larsen

Ann Larsen is an award winning artist living in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Although living in one of the most beautiful places in the country, Larsen is drawn to the western landscape as well.
She travels throughout the Southwest capturing the vast and intimate landscape. Having done hundreds of small sketches and paintings, she feels the landscape process is more about what you don't say then what you do say. These small studies are then used as references to create larger works in the studio.

Through the use of textural brush work she interprets what nature provides in an impressionistic manner. Larsen states that “working from nature is both exciting and challenging, but ultimately there is a dichotomy between painting and creating a work of art that hopefully collectors respond to. I strive to create a feeling of time and place in each painting.”
Larsen’s influences range from Maynard Dixon and Edgar Payne, to John Singer Sargent and Sorolla.
