Vickie McMillan-Hayes

IMG_2866.jpeg

Vickie McMillan-Hayes, a proud native Texan, channels her profound connection to nature into breathtaking wildlife, landscape, and iconic images of the rugged cowboy/girl amidst picturesque wild terrain. Through her art, she seeks to evoke a sense of awe and appreciation for the beauty and majesty of the nature, while also raising awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation. As a woman artist, Vickie strives to infuse her work with a distinct perspective on the wildlife of the West, weaving together elements of nature and culture within the rich tapestry of Western artistic tradition.  She is also known for African wildlife paintings where she lived and studied the animals in their natural habitat for five summers.

Drawing upon meticulous observation and study, informed by both fieldwork and award-winning photography, she endeavors to depict nature with both accuracy and artistic flair. Despite facing the challenge of Essential Tremors since the age of 16, a disability impacting her ability to maintain a steady hand, Vickie has developed a unique technique to accommodate her tremors. Vickie holds her breath while embracing her painting hand to achieve the desired stroke.

Vickie's award-winning paintings have earned her recognition and acclaim, gracing the walls of prestigious art museums and galleries across the nation and around the world. From esteemed museum collections to corporate spaces and private residences, her art resonates with audiences far and wide, sparking meaningful conversations about conservation. Published in prominent magazines, articles, and reviews, Vickie's art not only captures the beauty of the natural world but also serves as a catalyst for inspiring action and fostering a deeper connection to the world around us.
